We celebrated and partied hard when a sleek finish from Alex
Iwobi against Zambia guaranteed Super Eagles’s place in the World Cup
next year.
But would you believe if i tell you NIGERIA can defy all odds to win the competition come 2018 in Russia?? Crazy right??
Hitalkonline Sport lists 4 reasons why that is possible. Let’s Go!
1. Anything Is Possible In Football
Really the most important point in the lot. Gone are those days when a superior football team is guaranteed a victory against the underdog.
Nowadays, the so-called underdogs are springing up surprises.
German side Dortmund did it in the Bundesliga when Bayern Munich were on top form in 2011; Leicester City against all odds won the Premier League in a fairy tale fashion in 2016.
Super Eagles can also win the World Cup in 2018.
2. Nigeria Has A Strong & Improving Defense
“Nigerians kept calling us Oyinbo so we called our partnership Oyinbo Wall,” Balogun spoke of the ‘Great Wall’.
“We hope the partnership can be better and go on for a long time.”
3. Nigeria Has A Vibrant Attacking Line
There is that energetic feel when we attack. Though i am not someone that rates Odion Ighalo, Nigeria still boast of an effective set of attacking players that can score goals and lead us to victory in Russia.
Most notably: Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses & Alex Iwobi.
4. Our Fans Will Sing Us To Victory.
When the going gets tough, trust on our supporter’s club to lead us to victory.
You simply can NOT dismiss the importance of fans in the round leather game.
One of the reason Leicester City won the league in 2016 was their home fans ability to intimidate opposition sides with a very loud vocal presence.
In football, the fans are the 12th man on the pitch.
So, i urge every one going to Russia next year to support us by singing very loud: The players need it.
“All We Are Saying, Give Us One Goal!”
Go! Go! Super Eagles!!
Can Nigeria Shock The Football World To Win The 2018 World Cup In Russia??
